Mold can begin to grow rapidly and exponentially in any building and at any time if indoor humidity levels or moisture incursions are not controlled. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or on building materials, mold growth will often occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed. It is impossible to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment. However, mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling indoor humidity levels.
The causes of mold growth in buildings are typically discovered by independent and unbiased mold and moisture assessors and are not part of the remediation service. Since mold requires a moisture level above 50%, it is important to control the moisture level through dehumidification in buildings and residencies. Changes in building construction practices have resulted in buildings that are tightly sealed and lack adequate ventilation, potentially leading to moisture buildup and lack of fresh air intake. Improved building materials and windows and updated sealing methods often do not allow moisture to transfer easily, making indoor climatic control necessary. We are experts in the installation of fresh air intake systems, which allow the exchange of stale or unhealthy indoor air with fresh outdoor air. Fresh air intake systems also eliminate negative air pressure in lower levels of the residence, decreasing the wicking of moisture through concrete walls and floors.
We start the remediation process by setting up a containment system with a negative air machine/ air scrubber and seal off any penetrations, eliminating the risk of cross contamination to unaffected areas. We hygienically remove contaminated building materials and thoroughly dry out the area through dehumidification. We perform in-depth cleaning and sanitizing by the use of HEPA filtration, cleaning solutions, and anti-microbial agents along with encapsulation.
